NEWS RELEASE

SAULT AREA HOSPITAL

************************* Visitor restrictions lifted on CARE Unit East

April 1, 2009 - As previously reported on March 20, due to the high numbers of patients affected with the Norovirus, Sault Area Hospital (SAH) imposed visitor restrictions on the CARE Unit East.

Through the diligent efforts and cooperation of patients and their loved ones and staff, visitor restrictions on CARE Unit East (second floor at the Plummer site) have now been lifted.

Individuals who may be planning to visit patients are still urged to use discretion.

To prevent the spread of infection, anyone experiencing nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or cold/flu-like symptoms is strongly discouraged from visiting.

Visitors who do come to the hospital are reminded to clean their hands with the alcohol-based solution provided throughout the facility and asked to be respectful of visiting hours.

SAH wishes to thank all patients, their loved ones and the community at large for their cooperation and patience during this time.

The hospital also acknowledges the outstanding efforts of all staff, the Infection Control Team and Algoma Public Health for their hard work in managing this situation.
