Cedarwood Lodge will once again be allowed to take in new residents.
Back in March, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care ordered a Cease of Admissions due to concerns for residents safety.
The Cease of Admissions was lifted Aug. 10, stated David Jensen, a Ministry spokesperson, in an email to SooToday.
15 areas of non-compliance identified at Cedarwood, located at 860 Great Northern Road, included:
- staff not following resident plans of care
- not protecting residents from abuse
- not managing responsive behaviours
- not having a program in place for skin and wound care, as well as a fall prevention program
- not reporting abuse to the director immediately
Regular followups took place, and a follow-up inspection carried out July 24 and 25, 2017 found that the last outstanding compliance order had been returned to compliance, Jensen wrote.
The 50-bed, long-term care home’s operator is Sudbury’s Autumnwood Mature Lifestyle Communities.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins, during a visit to Sault Ste. Marie in July, announced southern Ontario based UniversalCare would oversee day-to-day operations at Cedarwood.
Cedarwood, located on the site of the old Davey Home, opened in May 2015 with the help of $2 million in provincial government funding, providing 50 new local interim long-term care beds.
