OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************* ECHO BAY, ON - Officers conducting RIDE checks in Echo Bay last night found another impaired driver.

At about 10 p.m. last night officers with the Sault Ste. Marie OPP detachment and the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit were conducting festive RIDE checks at Church Street and Lake Street in Echo Bay.

An ATV started to approached the officers and when the driver realized who they were, he attempted to flee the scene by a side road.

One officer blocked the side road and the driver stopped his ATV.

The officers detected signs that the man was drinking and he was given a roadside test.

He failed that test and he was returned to the detachment where further testing indicated that he was over the legal limit to the driving.

As a result of this investigation, 53-year-old Cecil Harry Preston, of 80 Robin Street in Sault Ste. Marie, faces two charges.

He has been charged with driving while over the legal limit of .08 and driving with no licence.

Even though he has no licence, his ability to get one has been suspended for the next 90 days.

The ATV he was driving was also towed away from the scene.
