OPP NEWS RELEASE

**************************** Body of 13-year-old male recovered by fire department

(Mattawa, Ontario) - The body of 13-year-old Blake Levenick of Lakeshore, Ontario (approximately 8 kilometers south of Belle River, Ontario) was recovered by Calvin Township Volunteer Fire Department at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday August 2nd, 2004 from Talon Chutes, Calvin Township.

OPP Mattawa were contacted just after 4 p.m. on Monday, after a report that the youth was missing in the Chutes. There were several swimmers in the area.

Blake Levenick slipped while crossing the chutes.

Officers from North Bay, Powassan and Mattawa detachment responded to assist in the search.

The North Bay OPP Marine Unit were on hand when Calvin Township Volunteer Fire Department recovered Levenick’s body approximately three-quarters of the way down the rapids.

Talon Chutes is located at the east end of Lake Talon approximately 35 kilometers east of North Bay, Ontario.

A post mortem has been scheduled for this morning (Tuesday August 3rd, 2004).

(North Bay, Ontario) - OPP North Bay Crime Unit attended the post mortem at the North Bay General Hospital scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today (Tuesday August 3rd, 2004).

The cause of death was drowning.
