Three representatives of Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are off to Sudbury to learn to be CyberCops trainers.

They'll be learning how to teach others to teach Grade 7 and Grade 8 student how to safely surf the Internet.

"The goal of this program is to create a team of trainers or Internet safety champions within each school community," Superintendent of Education Germain Dalcourt told the board.

He, two others from the board, and one police officer will be attending a 4.5-hour training session for the CyberCops program on March 22.

"CyberCops assists students in acquiring the skills needed to recognize and respond to situations that threaten their personal safety and wellbeing as a result of using the Internet," Dalcourt said in his report to the board.

The program uses software that's similar to popular interactive games.
