You don't need to drive along Northern Avenue to check the status of a new wing going up at Sault College.

A webcam available through the institution's website lets viewers track progress as the three-storey structure takes shape.

The $25 million project is supported by $16 million in federal and provincial infrastructure funding, along with $9 million to be contributed by Sault College.

Scheduled for completion in 2011, the wing is part of an effort to reduce energy consumption and modernize the campus.

Infrastructure funding is helping to add new facilities at Algoma University, too.

The $16 million biosciences and technology convergence centre is being built near the student residences on the north side of the campus.

That building will house teaching, research and commercial activities.
