************************* Camp quality experience invaluable: Hughes OTTAWA - Carol Hughes is proud to have been able to show her support for Camp Quality Northern Ontario at the camp’s family day in Espanola this past Saturday.

The activity-filled day which included a parade [shown] from the local Canadian Tire to the recreational complex was fun for the entire family and served to highlight the excellent programs camp quality makes available to young cancer patients.

“This day showcases the good work being done for these children who are facing difficult challenges at such an early stage of their lives,” said Hughes. “They are real troopers facing aggressive treatments and it’s nice to see the camp giving them an opportunity to forget their illness and enjoy being kids.”

The family day served as a reunion for children who attended Camp Quality and their counsellors, many of whom were clients of the camp before becoming involved in the running of the operation.

“For the families and the children it is a chance to meet with peers who share an experience and can relate to each other in ways few can,” sated Hughes.

She went on to thank the many volunteers who made the day and the camp a success.

Operating with volunteer staff, Camp Quality offers week-long camp experiences for children who are battling cancer, as well as a year-round support program that includes a reunion weekend, an educational puppet program and ongoing personal contact with campers and their families.
