************************** Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing new Democrats nominate Carol Hughes for re-election
KAPUSKASING – New Democratic Party members in Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing confirmed Carol Hughes MP as their candidate in the coming federal election.
New Democrat MP Yvon Godin (Acadie-Bathurst) was on hand as the keynote speaker at the meeting.
“Carol Hughes is one of the most hard-working and dedicated members of the NDP caucus. One thing is clear with Carol - she is a tireless advocate for the North,” says Godin.
“I have been proud to serve the people of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing since I was elected. I will continue to work tirelessly to support the workers in the forestry industry; I will continue to work for a green economy; I will fight to secure quality our pensions, and I will continue to oppose the HST,” says Hughes. “Together we will rebuild our economy and a healthier, greener north.”
The AMK meeting took place at the Centre régional des Loisirs in Kapuskasing on Thursday November 19.
A follow-up nomination meeting will be held in Elliot Lake the following day at the Elliot Lake Legion.
New Democrat MP Niki Ashton (Churchill) will be in Elliot Lake for the event.
