Careless driving charge laid after Farwell Terrace crash

************************* Sixty-three-year-old Rita Gionette of 83 Elliot Road was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on the 28th of January at 2:22 p.m. on Farwell Terrace near Douglas Avenue.

It is alleged that the accused was driving northbound on Farwell Terrace when she momentarily diverted her attention from the roadway resulting in the vehicle striking a utility pole.

Mrs. Gionette received what was at the time believed to be minimal non-life-threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.

Her vehicle as well as the PUC pole was severely damaged.

She was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

************************* There have been numerous accidents reported to both police and the collision reporting center over the past couple of days reflecting the recent change in weather patterns.
