The Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre was the scene of the latest candidates debate, allowing seniors a chance to hear what each local candidate had to say about a wide swath of issues impacting them.
The debate - hosted by local representatives of the National Association of Federal Retirees, District 3 Algoma of the Retired Teachers of Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma Seniors Health Advisory Committee - was moderated by recently retired Superior Court Justice Larry Whalen.
Candidates had a minute each to answer questions from the host organizations, which included questions surrounding a national seniors strategy, universal pharmacare, retirement income security and climate change.
The floor was then opened to people attending the debate, which saw a handful of people ask the federal candidates questions regarding medical travel, recycling, local crime and long-term care.
