Canada Post suspends mail delivery due to extreme cold

Delivery will resume once conditions improve

The following notice was issued today by Canada Post media relations regarding the suspension of mail delivery across northern Ontario:

Due to the current weather conditions, a Red Alert has been issued for northern Ontario, which includes North Bay, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Kapuskasing, Sault Ste. Marie, and Sudbury.

A Red Alert means we are suspending delivery for the day and not sending our delivery agents out as the weather conditions have made it unsafe.

An alert can be for a particular community or an entire province depending on the weather event. These alerts are posted to our website, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

Red Alert: Mail delivery interrupted

In light of the severe weather conditions in northern Ontario, is not safe to deliver mail today. Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it is safe to do so.
