Building damaged after being struck by vehicle on fire (updated, 7 photos)

Lincoln Louttit, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service spokesperson, told SooToday Monday afternoon the driver of the vehicle had fled the area when officers arrived on scene, the investigation ongoing.

A vehicle fire drew police and fire crews to Second Line West early Sunday morning.

The building at 463 Second Line West – home of Ontario Wild pet products – appears to have been struck by the flaming vehicle, causing fire and structural damage to the exterior.

In a Facebook post Sunday morning, Ontario Wild stated that no people or pets were inside the building at the time of the incident.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be slightly delayed this week for food production. Stay tuned! Well let you know adjusted hours in a few days,” the company said via social media.

The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
