NEWS RELEASE

BRYAN HAYES, MP

**************************** Member of Parliament Bryan Hayes represents his riding on two important committees

SAULT STE. MARIE - Local Member of Parliament Bryan Hayes has been assigned to two very important committees in the House of Commons.

Mr. Hayes will serve on the Standing Committee for Public Accounts as well as the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans.

As a member of these committees, the MP will hear from experts including government officials, affected individuals, special interest groups, business people and professionals in order to help study and amend government legislation and examine departmental spending.

Committee work requires familiarity and knowledge of a wide variety of complex issues.

Sault Ste. Marie’s location on the Great Lakes makes the Fisheries and Oceans Committee assignment very valuable for this constituency for a number of reasons.

These include, but are not limited to; concerns involving invasive species being introduced to the Great Lakes, marinas that are in disrepair, and the renegotiation of the Fisheries Act.

With an education background as a CGA, Mr. Hayes’ position as part of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts will be to oversee the spending of government departments, and also to provide an analysis and response to the Auditor General’s report.

“My position on both these Committees gives Sault Ste. Marie a voice in the course that this nation will take. If you have any concerns related to these committees, or any other issues please do not hesitate to write, call, or e-mail,” said Mr. Hayes.
