Brutal assault on totally innocent orange captured on film

Shaylan Spurway's dad gunned down this innocent orange with a rifle while she documented the assault.

What the Desbarats girl captured on film is currently in the top 10 of Orangina's "The Art of Refreshment" photo contest.

And she's determined it will stay that way.

"My two 'Blast of Flavour' images are currently in the top 10 but I would like to keep them there, and possibly boost them a little higher, with some votes from fellow Facebookers in Sault Ste. Marie," Spurway writes SooToday.com. "When this contest was advertised I had the idea to create a literal blast of flavour by having my dad shoot the oranges with a rifle, while I shot with my camera. A little bit hillbilly, but a lot of fun and I think it gets the message across."

The juice company is on a Canada-wide search for images that capture the essence of the drink for a new advertising campaign.

Spurway's photos are numbers 43 and 44.

In order to cast a vote, you must first become a fan of Orangina, then click the "like" option below your photo of choice.

Fan votes play a major role in the judges' final decisions.

Voters have until December 1 to pick their favourite shot.

The grand prize winner and runners-up will be announced on December 10.

Each runner up will be awarded $500, with the grand prize winner taking home $2,500.
