Bridges to Better Business forum to feature one of Canada's top female entrepreneurs

Calling all entrepreneurs! Registration is now open for Bridges to Better Business 2019. The annual forum unites local professionals for a night of learning, networking and fun. This year’s event is taking place on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre.

Bridges to Better Business is hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and its Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship. The 2019 forum will feature a keynote presentation from Mandy Gilbert, who has been recognized as a United Nations Global Accelerator and ranked as one of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs on Canadian Business’ Profit 500 list and Chatelaine’s W100 list.

This year’s event will also feature a Pitch Off between entrepreneurs from two local companies. After a competitive process involving a number of business submissions, Hogan’s Homestead Products and IPI Creations made it to the final round.

The owners will present their ideas to the audience and judges panel live at Bridges to Better Business 2019. The audience will then have a chance to vote for their favourite pitch. The winner will receive a grand prize valued at $10,000, and the runner up will go home with a $5,000-valued prize package.

“Bridges to Better Business is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect with professionals while gaining first-hand knowledge from renowned experts,” said Harleen Puaar Shukla, Manager of Enterprise Services/ Millworks - Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation. “The event brings together entrepreneurs and business leaders for an open exchange of ideas, advice and feedback.”

The forum is taking place during Small Business Week, an annual campaign facilitated by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
