One-way traffic crossings at the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge dropped by 9.9 percent in the month of September, when compared to September 2008 totals.

The statistics released today by the International Bridge Administration also revealed that total bridge crossings for 2009 to date are 1,256,244, a drop of 16.4 percent from 2008.

Full-fare passenger cars fell by 8.1 percent, commuter fares by 12.9 percent, and commercial trucks by 12.7 percent, while cars pulling trailers increased by 10.1 percent.

More than 87.7 million vehicles have crossed the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge since the structure opened in 1962.
