************************* St. Denis confident new Liberal Leader Stephane Dion will strengthen Canada

Ottawa - Brent St. Denis [shown] throws his support behind new Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion.

In one of the most exciting conventions of all time, Liberals from across the country gathered in large numbers to elect the Hon. Stéphane Dion as leader.

"Stéphane Dion is a great parliamentarian with a long list of accomplishments.

“Mr. Dion can count on my full support as the Liberal Party continues to oppose the Conservative hard right wing agenda and to show the NDP are not in line with mainstream Canadians," said St. Denis.

Stéphane Dion is the Member of Parliament for St-Laurent Cartierville in Québec.

Known as the unity minister, Dion worked tirelessly as minister of intergovernmental affairs to keep Canada together and united.

As environment minister, Dion prepared Canada for the challenges of a sustainable economy and played a key role in developing the greenest budget since Confederation.

A man of action, Dion fought for and won international agreement to extend the Kyoto protocol beyond 2012 at the follow-up Conference on Climate Change in Montreal.

"Stéphane has a proven record on the issues that matter most to Canadians.

“On the environment, on economic prosperity, and on social justice, Stéphane has presented his three pillar approach to governing that stands in stark contrast to Stephen Harper's right wing agenda," St. Denis continued.

Before entering politics, Mr. Dion taught public administration and political science at the University of Montreal and has authored numerous books and articles on the subject.

Mr. Dion is married to Janine Kreiber, has one daughter Jeanne, and a dog named Kyoto.
