Brampton man charged with driving while suspended

************************* Routine stop costly for driver

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - (February 3) - On January 29th, 2009 at approximately 8:15 a.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP while on general patrol conducted a traffic stop.

Investigation revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of 45 days.

The driver has been charged.

Charged with driving while disqualified is Jay Patrick Pegnam (age 28) of Brampton, Ontario.

Pegnam is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on March 3, 2009.

************************* Fourteen-year-old female youth charged with assault

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - (February 3) - On Friday, January 30, 2009, police received a call regarding a possible assault.

Police investigated and learned that at approximately 7:45 p.m. that evening the victim was walking with friend when the suspect confronted her.

While attempting to leave the victim was allegedly assaulted by the suspect.

Charged with assault is a 14-year-old female youth.

The youth is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake Youth Court on March 3, 2009.

The name of the youth will not be released under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
