British Petroleum's Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles announced today that the company's "top kill" effort to stop the oil leak from its ruptured off shore well in the Gulf of Mexico has failed.
This latest attempt to stop the massive oil flow involved pumping mud into the well, something BP has been doing for the last four days.
Suttles said during today's news conference that BP will next attempt to cap the well using a lower marine riser package.
