Bootleg Stephen Harper video makes waves

This bootleg video of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, speaking last week to a closed meeting of party faithful at Sault Ste. Marie's Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, is making national news.

On the video, Harper states that he thinks a Conservative majority government is "in reach" in the next federal election.

If the Conservatives don't win a majority, Canada will be governed by the Liberals through a coalition with the New Democratic Party and Bloc Québécois, Harper said.

The tape, parts of which have been shown on CBC television, is being cited by the Liberals as evidence of Harper's unwillingness to work with other parties.

The video was made by an unidentified individual in the audience, who submitted it to the Liberal Party of Canada, which in turn sent a copy to CBC News.

Anyone who was present at Harper's speech and who noticed who was videotaping is invited to let us know by e-mailing [email protected] or phoning our newsroom at 705-941-0664.
