Blind River traffic stop yields half-a-kilo in drugs

************************* East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police officers executed a traffic stop on Causley Street in Blind River and intercepted three persons carrying a substantial quantity of drugs and cash.

Just before 10 p.m. officers conducted a stop and discovered that one occupant had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Subsequent to the arrest officers found two large plastic bags containing in excess of $32,000.

Further investigation led to the discovery of just under 0.5 kilograms of marijuana.

Charged are:

- Joseph Sydney Shedler, age 33, of 196 Burton Avenue Barrie, Ontario, with proceeds of crime, possession of controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking, possession of controlled substance.

- Jeremy Wallace Gauvin, age 32, of 11th Lane Hawkstone, Ontario, with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of controlled substance.

- Jean-Sebastien Gagnon, age 24, of 3760 Malo Avenue, Brossard, Quebec, with possession of a controlled substance.

Gagnon and Gauvin have been held in custody pending bail hearing on April 14 in Sault Ste. Marie.

Shedler will be released on bail pending the arrival of a cash surety, and will be returning to court in Blind River on May 1, 2008.
