Blind River town employee accused of big cash ripoff

************************* Theft charge laid

(Blind River, Ont.) - An OPP investigation into a report of misappropriated municipal funds has resulted in a theft charge against a Town of Blind River employee.

The investigation into the missing funds was undertaken in summer of 2005 by the Criminal Investigation Unit of East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police, with the assistance of a financial auditor.

Charged with one count of theft over $5,000 is 37-year-old Kelly Ethier, Blind River.

Ethier is to appear in court in Blind River on March 1.
