************************* Two charged with large quantity of cannabis

COMMANDA TOWNSHIP, ON – North Bay OPP have charged two males from Sudbury area with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on Tuesday, June 10, as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Commanda Township.

An Anishinabek Police Service officer and an OPP officer were conducting RIDE on Highway 17 in Commanda Township at approximately 11:30 p.m. when their investigative skills lead them to a large quantity of cannabis (9988.5 grams or 22 lbs) with a street value of over $100,000.

Derek K. Savoie, 19 years old, of Chelmsford, Ontario is charged with:

- Possession for the purpose Schedule II over 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), s. 5(2).

- Trafficking Schedule II - cannabis marijuana over three kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i).

David E. Thibert, 21 years old, of Sudbury, Ontario is charged with:

- Possession for the purpose Schedule II over 3 kg contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(2).

- Trafficking Schedule II - cannabis marijuana over three kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i)

- Possession Schedule II - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams contrary to the CDSA, s.4(1)

Both were held for bail appearance today at the North Bay Court on Plouffe Street.

NORTH BAY, ON – North Bay OPP have charged three males from the province of Quebec with possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on Tuesday, June 10 as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 17 in North Bay, Ontario.

An OPP officer conducted a traffic stop and was assisted by an Anishinabek Police Service officer as well as another OPP officer on Highway 17 in North Bay shortly after 12 midnight on Tuesday, June 10.

Investigation led to the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis (1197.5 grams) with a street value of approximately $17,000.

Charged are Fidel Brochu, 28 years old, of Montreal, Quebec; Cedric Racinet, 33 years old, of no fixed address and Thierry St. Arnaud Simard, 20 years old, also of Montreal, Quebec, each with:

- Possession for the purpose Schedule II under three kilograms contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), s. 5(2).

- Trafficking Schedule II - cannabis marijuana under three kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i). - possession Schedule II - cannabis marijuana - under 30 grams contrary to the CDSA, s.4(1)

All three parties were held for bail appearance on Tuesday at the North Bay Court on Plouffe Street.
