The Big Brothers Association and the Big Sisters Association in Sault Ste. Marie merged into one organization effective April 1, 2013.

The integrated organization (logo shown) has opened a new office at 444 Albert Street East.

Over the next two years, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association will continue to operate existing mentoring programs and introduce new programs for girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 18 years.

A $41,700 Ontario Trillium Fund (OTF) grant is supporting enhanced operations and helping to build community profile.

“Dollars are being allocated towards the branding of the new agency, new programs, new computers and to help offset other costs associated with the merger,” said Mark Szymberski, executive director, Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Sault Ste. Marie.

“This integrated organization is expected to reduce duplication and increase efficiency and consistency in service delivery,” adds Sault MPP David Orazietti in a news release.
