Big air and big smiles at Searchmont this weekend (19 photos)

Snowboarders are super pumped to get in some training before the season

Where there's a will there's a way, says Superior Community Skatepark Association president Travis McCormack.

Right now a number of snowboarders are honing their skills on the mountain at Searchmont - without snow and McCormack sent us some pictures of yesterday's training camp.

"They use a gas powered winch and tow rope to pull the riders at various speeds into a large carpet covered ramp into the air and landing onto an air bag," McCormack tells SooToday. "The carpet is soaked down with water and some soap to keep it slippery and fast."

It's all part of Hutch Academy's pre-season skills training and spectators are welcome.

Training continues today (Sunday) until 3 p.m.
