SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Kewadin Casinos, Sault Ste. Marie, recently received four awards from the annual Chippewa/Luce/Mackinac Counties “Best of the Best” survey.

The awards, voted on by area residents, will be announced later this month in the Soo Evening News.

Kewadin departments receiving recognition in the 2008 “Best of the Best” include:

- Kewadin Casinos DreamCatchers Restaurant: voted best desserts

- Kewadin Casinos Hotel & Convention Center: voted best casino

- Kewadin Casinos DreamMaker Theater: voted best entertainment venue

- Kewadin Casinos Hotel & Convention center: voted best place to spend Saturday night.

“These awards are a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our team members,” said Tony Goetz, casino chief operating officer. “Without them, we could never have earned them.”

The casinos have earned similar awards over the past 10 years from the Best of the Best survey.

Nearly 3,000 ballots are typically cast to vote for these area awards, which are sponsored by the Evening News-Sault Sunday.

Results are compiled by an independent agency and the results are based on a series of pages published as ballots.

Kewadin Casinos, with operations in Sault Ste. Marie, St. Ignace, Manistique, Hessel and Christmas, are owned and operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
