Beaver joins Sault Y (4 photos)

Loyal SooToday.com reader and Sault Family YMCA Communications Officer Tannis McMillan sent us a note and photos that describe an unusual sighting on McNabb Street today.

"I have attached three pictures of a beaver that dropped by the Y," she writes. "Everyone is joking that the Y is a 'Family place, with something for everyone' and that the beaver wanted to check out the Y summer camp."

Tannis says the Humane Society responded quickly to a request for help and caught the beaver to ensure its safety.

The MNR also called to offer assistance, but things were already being taken care of by then.

"And we extend many thanks to the gentleman who made certain that the beaver stayed safe and did not get onto McNabb Street," Tannis adds.

Meanwhile, the gallery accompanying this article includes another interesting image submitted by a self-described "loyal daily reader" in the Michigan Soo.

"Just thought I would send in this unusual picture I took in my front yard yesterday," notes Brenda Wardell. "I had about 12 or so blue jays and about four squirrels all sharing sunflower seeds at the same time. It was a beautiful site. I really enjoy reading your website. Thank you for up-to-the-minute news."
