Bear sightings keep cops busy

Police attended seven noise complaints overnight.

In addition, officers attended for several bear calls in the city’s west end. 

A bear was spotted in the housing complex at 710 Second Line West, in the parking lot of Mrs. B’s on Second Line West, on Nichol Avenue, Pittsburgh Avenue and in a tree on Edison Avenue. 

The bear was believed to be a mother with cubs.

The animal is clearly becoming urbanized because of access to food but could be potentially aggressive because her protective nature around the cubs. 

Citizens are reminded to remove garbage and food sources.
