Bay St collision blamed on 16-year-old driver

************************* A 16-year-old male driver was involved in a collision at the intersection of Bay Street at Elgin Street on the 25th of January at 8:30 a.m.

It is alleged that the accused was driving his car eastbound on Bay Street and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection at Elgin Street.

As a result, the accused vehicle was struck by a southbound car on Elgin Street that had entered the intersection on a green light.

This vehicle was being operated by a 35-year-old female.

The accused was issued a summons under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario for failing to stop for a red light.

The accused received no injuries while the female driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused vehicle sustained light damage while the other vehicle sustained moderate damage as a result of the collision.
