Bawating starts coming down next month

************************* Demolition of Bawating Collegiate & Vocational School expectedto begin in August, 2010

Over the past six months, construction has been under way on the new Superior Heights Collegiate & Vocational School situated on the existing Bawating Collegiate and Vocational School site.

This is a very exciting time for our school board and our community as we begin to see this state-of-the-art learning facility take shape.

Over the course of the summer we will see steel being erected, brick and block work, framing of windows and doors and roofing.

With construction on schedule for the new school, we are approaching the date when the existing Bawating Collegiate building is to be demolished.

We understand from our contractor that the complete demolition process is expected to take two-three months and is anticipated to begin in early August.

We hope that you share our enthusiasm as we watch the landscape at the corner of North Street and Second Line change.

It is a significant transitional moment, as we bid farewell to a school that has housed so many important milestones for thousands of Bawating students and staff.

We look ahead with optimism and excitement to what Superior Heights Collegiate will offer our students, the neighbourhood and our community as a whole.
