************************* Production of marijuana

Early this morning, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old male on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of production of a substance.

It is alleged that while police were at the residence of the accused on another unrelated matter, the officers located several marijuana plants.

It is further alleged that upon being arrested and searched, the officers located a small amount of marijuana on his person.

Charged with possession of a controlled substance and production of a substance is Gary Barkley, age 38, of 168 Pim Street.

************************* Assault

On Friday July 2, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged a 20-year-old male with one count of assault.

It is alleged that the accused assaulted another inmate by punching him in the head several times.

Victim suffered minor injuries.

Charged is Shane Yukich, age 20 of 266 John Street Apartment 1.

************************* Assault

On Saturday July 3, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male on a charge of assault.

It is alleged that the accused male assaulted another male person, known to him, by punching the victim several times in the head.

The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

The accused will be appearing in court on August 9 at 9 a.m. on a charge of assault.

Theon Haggart-Hewitt, age 24, of 31 Charlotte Street, is charged with the above offence.

************************* Break and enter

Residences were broken into in the following locations:

- The 300 block of Cathcart Street – electronics were stolen.

- The 300 block of Franklin Street – unknown items were taken.

- The 400 block of John Street - a bicycle was stolen from a shed.

- The 100 block of Tilley Road - unknown items were taken.

************************* Theft

Vehicles were entered in the following locations:

- The 100 block of Railroad Avenue - electronics were stolen.

- The 300 block of Princess Crescent - cash and personal identification was taken.

- The 1300 block of Old Garden River Road – a purse was stolen.

- The 100 block of Wallace Terrace – miscellaneous items were taken.

- The 100 block of Paradise Avenue - miscellaneous items were taken.

- The 500 block of Third Line East. – tools were taken.

- Numerous vehicles were entered in the 500, 900, 1200 and 1300 blocks of Fourth Line East – electronics and cash were stolen.

- Bicycles were reported stolen from the 100 block of Pawating Place and the 100 block of East Street,

************************* Mischief

- A front window was broken at a residence in the 100 block of Grandmont Crescent.

- A vehicle window was broken in the 100 block of Fourth Line West.
