The reality TV wife-swapping parents who falsely reported their six-year-old son was carried away in a UFO-shaped balloon last year will serve jail time for the publicity stunt.

U.S media are reporting that Richard Heene was sentenced today to 90 days in jail and four years of probation.

His wife, Mayumi got 20 days and four years of probation.

The couple will also be forced to pay restitution to Colorado emergency responders who raced to find their son.
