A serious collision involving a Sault Transit bus has occurred downtown this afternoon.

At least three ambulances have left the scene at the corner of Tancred and Queen Streets with injured people. Some of the injuries seemed significant.

A late-model blue Chevrolet pickup truck appears to have collided with the front end of a City bus.

The pickup sustained heavy damage to the driver's side.

The bus has major damage to its front end.

The bus windshield has popped out.

A light standard is also broken.

SooToday.com is unable to determine which bus it was because the electronic display is not lit.

Emergency responders have closed Queen Street from Dennis to Gore.

Tancred is closed from Albert to Bay.

Dennis Street is pretty well impassable in the same area due to snarled bus traffic.

Buses are unable to access the terminal from Queen Street so they are using Dennis Street as a temporary transfer point for passengers.

One witness tells SooToday.com that the crash occurred about five minutes before 2 p.m.

By 2:42 p.m., all ambulances and injured passengers had left the scene.

Police remained there investigating the crash.

SooToday.com heard the air-brake pressure releasing at 2:43 p.m.
