Baby kidnapper sentenced in Sudbury

The woman who disguised herself as a nurse and kidnapped an infant from a Sudbury hospital on November 1, 2007, has been sentenced to five years in prison, CBC News reports.

Several hours after a nation-wide Amber Alert had been issued, Brenda Batisse, 30, was arrested at a residence in Kirkland Lake.

The baby, unharmed, was also found at the home.

Batisse subsequently pleaded guilty to removing the newborn from St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
