SEARCHMONT, ON - A Sault Ste. Marie woman has been charged with a drinking and driving offence after she was found passed out in her car.

Last night at about 11:30 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste. Marie OPP detachment were called to a car in the ditch on Highway 556 just west of Searchmont.

Officers arrived to find the two back wheels of the car suspended in the air.

The female driver was still in the driver’s seat with the car still in gear.

Officers noticed that she had vomited and was lying in her own vomit.

She was awakened by the officers to discover that the possible cause of her stomach illness may have been because she had been drinking.

Forty-four-year-old Pauline Pauze, of 365 Second Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged with one count of driving while over the legal limit of .08 contrary to the Criminal Code.

She will appear in court in September.
