Attempted murder charge laid in Sault

************************* At approximately 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning, City Police were called to a West End residence regarding a domestic assault.

During the course of their investigation, officers learned from the female victim that she had been assaulted and stabbed by her ex-common-law boyfriend.

The suspect, a 40-year-old male, was subsequently located and arrested.

It is alleged that the accused and the victim were in the victim’s car and an argument took place resulting in the accused assaulting the victim three times.

The accused is then said to have threatened to kill the victim and grabbed the steering wheel - attempting to drive into oncoming traffic.

The accused and victim attended at the victim’s residence where it is alleged that the accused grabbed a knife and attempted to stab the victim several times.

The accused is charged with one count of attempt murder, one count of threatening death, four counts of breach of recognizance, three counts of assault and one count of criminal negligence.
