With the city's arts and culture financial assistance pot sweetened by an extra $71,000 this year, funding requests have doubled.
Virginia McLeod, the city's manager of culture and recreation, reports that 26 applications totalling $279,268 have been received, compared to 15 applications totalling $114,137 last year.
On Monday night, City Council will be asked to approve $75,000 in grants to the 21 organizations listed below, as recommended by the city's cultural advisory board.
An additional $28,900 is expected to be allocated to a newly developed festivals and events funding stream, subject to council approval in weeks to come.
