Are you sitting down? The Sault is actually getting a Giant Tiger

According to the Giant Tiger website, the popular retail chain will be roaring into Sault Ste. Marie this summer. 

The website shows the Giant Tiger is slated to open its doors at 625 Trunk Road - the same civic address as the Wellington Square Mall  - July 25, 2020.

Members of Facebook group Giant Tiger: Please Come To The Sault! are currently rejoicing in the wake of the retail store revelation. 

"Ahhhhhh yes!!!" said group member Ashlee Hamilton. 

"I can hardly wait!!!" added Dana Bellerose. 

The Canadian-owned discount retailer currently has more than 250 stores across eight provinces.

The Facebook group has been lobbying for a Giant Tiger location at least as far back as April 3, 2018, which the following was posted to members:

The purpose of this Group is to let Giant Tiger know that we would LOVE them to come to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.

We, the Creators of this group, have no concrete plan of action, nor are we entrepreneurs. It is hoped that, through our numbers, we can demonstrate how much support there would be for a Giant Tiger in Sault Ste Marie. We also like to talk about Giant Tiger, our experiences and the things we purchased!

It is unclear what role the group may have played in Giant Tiger's decision to open a Sault location (calls for comment from Giant Tiger have so far not been returned), nor is it clear what will become of the group, now that its destiny appears on track to be fulfilled.
