Algoma Public Health is warning of a potential high-risk COVID-19 exposure for workers at Baffinland Mary River Mine, which is located on Baffin Island, Nunavut.

In a release, APH says that anyone who worked at the mine since April 30 is at risk of exposure.

The health unit asks anyone within the APH region who has returned from the mine since then to immediately self-isolate and contact APH at 705-759-5404 or 1-866-892-0172 ext. 5404 for further information.

The Sudbury Health Unit issued a similar warning Saturday afternoon.

In the Algoma region, there are currently 18 active cases and two hospitalizations.

There are three additional hospitalizations that are non-Algoma residents temporarily in the region.
