Algoma Public Health has reported two new hospitalizations and 37 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region, though due to limits on who can be tested, these numbers may be underestimated.

There are currently 19 people in hospital with COVID-19, four of whom were admitted due to COVID-19 related issues.

Five people are currently in ICU with COVID-19 in the region.

There were 57 cases resolved since the last report, bringing the total number of active cases down to 434.

APH ran 373 tests with a positivity rate of 9.9 per cent.

Of those eligible, 85 per cent have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
