APH reports one COVID-19 related death

Algoma Public Health has reported one death related to COVID-19 over the weekend.

That brings the total number of deaths in the region to 32 since the beginning of 2022.

There are currently 25 people in hospital with COVID-19, but none of them were admitted due to COVID-19 related illness.

One person remains in ICU in the region.

There are 68 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the totally number of active cases to 236, down from 291 in the last report.

APH has conducted 714 tests with a positivity rate of 9.5 per cent.

Of those eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, 85.3 per cent of the region's residents have received at least two doses.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
