Algoma Public Health is reporting 131 new confirmed cases in the region, though this number may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

This report includes data collected over the weekend.

Since the last report, 120 cases were resolved, and there are 454 active cases in the region, up from 443 in the last report.

There are 17 people are in hospital with COVID-19, five of whom were admitted with COVID-19 related reasons.

There are four people in ICU with COVID-19 in the region.

APH conducted 807 tests over the weekend with a 16.2 per cent positivity rate.

Of those eligible, 85 per cent of the population have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
