Algoma Public Health is reporting five new hospitalizations testing positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 30 in the region.

There are currently three people in ICU with COVID-19.

APH has confirmed 34 new cases of COVID-19, and 28 cases have been resolved.

There are 242 active cases in the region, up from 236 in yesterday's report.

APH has conducted 270 COVID-19 tests with a positivity rate of 12.5 per cent.

Of those eligible, 85.3 per cent of Algoma residents have recieved at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
