Algoma Public Health has reported that there are 55 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region, though this number may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

There are no new hospitalizations in the region, with the number of people in hospital with COVID-19 going down to 17 from 19 in the last report.

There are currently 443 active cases in the region, and 49 cases have been resolved.

Three people are in ICU with COVID-19.

APH completed 328 tests since the last report with a positivity rate of 16.8 per cent.

Of those eligible to be vaccinated in the region, 85 per cent have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
