Algoma Public Health is reporting no new hospitalizations and 17 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since their last report.

There are currently 21 people in hospital testing positive for COVID-19, down from 28 yesterday.

Five people are still in ICU throughout the region, and only one of them was admitted for COVID-19 related illness.

There are 209 active cases of COVID-19, down from 215, and 23 cases have been resolved.

APH has run 448 tests with a positivity rate of 3.7 per cent.

Of those eligible, 85.4 per cent of Algoma residents have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
