APH reporting six new COVID cases

The number of active COVID cases in Algoma is currently at 47 with one active case in a non-Algoma resident temporarily in the region

Algoma Public Health is reporting six new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

The new cases, all in the Sault Ste. Marie area, bring the total number of COVID cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 285.

Details of the confirmed cases are as follows:

    • Tested on April 14
    • Exposure category: close contact
  • Case No. 285
    • Tested on April 14
    • Exposure category: close contact

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Close contact exposure means the individual was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Regions in Algoma with COVID-19 cases reported in the past 14 days include:

  • Central and east Algoma
  • Sault Ste. Marie and area

There are currently 47 active COVID cases in the region and one active case in a non-Algoma resident temporarily in the region, which is not counted as part of Algoma's case count.

There is one active case currently hospitalized and a non-Algoma resident temporarily in the region currently hospitalized.
