APH reporting low-risk COVID exposure in Sault, 33 new cases

Algoma Public Health is reporting a low-risk COVID-19 exposure in Sault Ste. Marie.

The exposure was at the Lake Street location of Wacky Wings on Dec. 9 between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

APH advises that anyone who was present at the time to self-monitor for COVID symptoms for 10 days from the potential exposure date and seek testing/self-isolate if symptoms develop.

The health unit is also reporting 33 new COVID cases in the region, 32 in the Sault area and one in central and east Algoma.

Of the new cases, the source of infection remains under investigation for 14 individuals while 11 were infected through close contact and three were through international travel.

The source of infection for the other five individuals is not yet known.

The region currently has 263 active cases and five hospitalizations as of Saturday evening.
