Update: An outbreak has been declared at St. Francis French Immersion Catholic School this evening. Outbreak protocols are being put into place, and APH will reach out to any close contacts of those with COVID-19.

Original Story:
Two more schools in the Sault have been alerted to COVID-19 exposures by Algoma Public Health.

St. Francis French Immersion Catholic School has at least one case of COVID-19 reported, and APH is investigating any close contacts of the individual or individuals with COVID.

Letters will be sent to anyone who is determined to have a low or high risk contact, and if families do not receive a letter, there is no reason to have their child tested if they aren't showing symptoms of COVID-19.

St. Mary's College has had an outbreak declared by APH, meaning that the cases of COVID-19 that have been reported have likely been acquired at the school either from each other or from a common source.

Outbreak protocols are in place at St. Mary's College, which include:

  • Ensuring COVID-19 vaccination policies are in place
  • Screening practices for students and staff are in place
  • Staying home when sick
  • Use of personal protective equipment when appropriate
  • Ensuring proper hand hygiene
  • Posting information about public health measures
  • Maintaining and encouraging social distancing

APH will contact students and their families if they need to be tested.
