NEWS RELEASE

SAULT AREA HOSPITAL

************************* Walk-in clinic closes early

September 6, 2007 - Sault Area Hospital’s (SAH) Walk-In Clinic will close early on September 7, 8, and 9 because of a lack of physician coverage.

On all three days, the clinic will close at 4 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.

All patients requiring medical care after 4 p.m. on these days will be seen in SAH’s emergency department.

Although the emergency department is open, there will be longer than normal waits for patients with non-urgent needs.

Patients are always seen in order of need, with the most urgent cases being given priority.

Patients are encouraged to plan ahead for their non-urgent healthcare needs.

Area residents can also call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 for free access to a registered nurse who can assess symptoms and help residents to decide next steps.
