'Animal interference' causes power outage in city's north end

PUC says 1225 customers are impacted by the outage

PUC is advising of a power outage impacting customers in the north end of the city.

PUC says the unplanned outage, which started at approximately 8:47 p.m. tonight, has impacted 1225 customers from Great Northern Road at Northern Avenue to Third Line.

The cause of the outage has been identified as animal Interference.

PUC reminds customers:

  • Downed wires should always be considered energized or "live", and extremely dangerous
  • Do not approach or drive over a downed power line and do not touch anything the power line may be in contact with
  • Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about powerline safety and the dangers that can be associated with power lines
  • Take all the necessary safety precautions during a power outage
